Dear Friends:

     Our store has been family-owned since it was founded over 70 years ago and has been in the Camarata family since my father, James, bought it in the Seventies. As much as I respect his legacy, I have a very rare opportunity, as an independent store owner, to sell the business on favorable terms and provide for Tom Austin’s long-term success into its next generation. It’s an attractive offer for all of us.

     The buyer is Allen Edmonds Shoe Corporation, a major supplier of high quality shoes to us from the very beginning. But the deal does not include my current inventory in other brands, all of which must be sold before Allen Edmonds assumes ownership of Tom Austin.

     We will be closed all day Monday, April 9th, to reduce prices and prepare. Our END OF AN ERA SALE starts 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 10th, with every brand in our store, including new arrivals and classic styles, priced 20% to 50% or more off regular retail.

     Our plan is to hold off newspaper and radio advertising until after April 13th. I urge you to make your selections early while we still have the largest assortments from which to select. Everything must go!

P.S.: I have agreed to stay on for a year after the sale to help with the transition and do some other interesting things with the folks at Allen Edmonds. So, I'll be able to thank you in person on your future visits and look forward to seeing you.
